1993 BMW / McLaren S70/2 V12 - 600 hp (447 kW) @ 7,400 rpm
"In 1993, a completely new twelve-cylinder sports engine is developed. It uses the cylinder spacing from the S70 engines and therefore the M70, but is an independent solution in all components. The cylinder head design corresponds to the four-valve concept of the S50 sports engine. The displacement is 6.1 liters.
The engine has a number of technically highly interesting individual solutions: twelve individual throttle valves, continuously variable intake timing (VANOS), two injectors per cylinder, aluminum flywheel, titanium rear silencer, dry sump lubrication with four suction and one pressure pump, etc.
With an output of 600 hp and a weight of 274 kg, the extremely favorable power-to-weight ratio of 0.45 kg / hp results in the equally outstanding output of 100 hp / liter.
The engine S70 / 2 is used until 1998 in less than 100 copies of the model F1 of the company McLaren."
